9 Year Old Boy’s Room
Problem:
The youngest of three boys happily accepts his brother’s hand-me-down toys, only to become frustrated when his room is too crowded to play and everything is disorganized.
Solution:
By discussing priorities, I was able to help this child divide toys into categories. This broke down the organizing process into parts that were easy for him to understand and execute. By reinforcing this process he will learn the skills necessary to maintain the space on his own.
Result:
Regular maintenance will help prevent the situation from getting out of hand. This reduces the frustration that leads to tears and outbursts. It’s a win, win, situation for parents and kids alike!
